In this page we offer you a remarkable  selection of the extremely  rare Yttrium Silicate Thalenite. The remote locality of Hundolmen , Tysfjord, Nordland (Norway)  is the   best worldwide occurrence for crystallised Thalenite. Thalenite xls occur imbedded in Y-Fluorite or Alkali-Feldspar. Crystal size may reach 3 cm but 1 cm xl have to be considered extremely remarkable. Thalenite occurs in translucent monoclinic crystal of pink,  pink - brown or pale brown colour  often with elongated developemnt. The typical locality is an old feldspar quarry operated until  the 80s' and then closed. Today's the pit is filled with water and collecting areas is limited to the remaining outcropping dump and to the submerged dumps. All the specimen come from a lucky find in Summer 2002 from a single stone of about 15 Kg recovered in the submerged dump
